It has been found that the carbtune II may require a short break-in period of about 20-30 minutes of use when first using it. People have reported that when they switch the hoses, the readings are way off. I also got this but after using it for about 30 minutes it is no longer an issue. Once it is broken in, I would also recommend storing the gauge upright to keep the alignment accurate. The reason behind the differences seems to be that the CBII uses Stainless Steel sliders as opposed to mercury or other liquids used in other gauges. The sliders seem to need a short time of use to "match" themselves to their slider tubes. This is not a big issue, but you should be aware of this. I will send an email off to Morgan, the manufacturer and see what they have to say about this.
I use a CarbTune II for my carbs. They are very high quality and a very decent price. You can get one for about $70US here: http://www.carbtune.com/carbpric.html They require a very small amount of assembly. You have to cut (2) small pieces of plastic and insert them into the hoses to get proper pressure and restriction. If you don't do this, the sliders will bounce all over making an accurate reading impossible. The included assembly directions are very straight forward and simple so I won't get into them.
Warm up the bike first then set your idle, using the black idle set knob, to around 1500rpm.

To sync/balance the carbs you should remove the seat, console and gas tank. This can be done without removing anything, but for the initial balance I suggest you do so you can get a better idea where everything is located. After that, this can be done by just attaching the tuner if you have small enough hands to reach in to the adjustment screw.
On to the next step.
