My 02 lowers were painted grey. I used paint stripper and polished mine. Powdercoating is much harder to remove than paint.

If I had to re-coat, I would definitely powdercoat. It's much more durable than paint.

I stripped and polished mine too. I would like to do it again and get even more of a shine.
