Got my eyes checked
      #470042 - 09/30/10 08:41 PM

Have been using dollar store glasses to improve vision for the last 25 years. Thought I was doing great.

The eye Dr gave me a new perscription, 200 in one eye and 250 in the other. He said it would improve depth perception.

I cant believe the difference rideing. I could go on and on but cornering is much better. I dont have to make small corrections through a corner as I was. Even on unfamiliar corners I can judge where I need to be. It is hard to explain but these 66 year old eyes are so much better. The comfort factor is a lot better.

Just had to say something as I am so happy with my new eyes.

Mike

I just got glasses this last Spring. Close-up is perfect but 20/50 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. I wear them often when I drive, but not so much when I ride because I wear sunglasses. What I need to do is get some of those transition lenses. But, when I do wear them the world is more in 3-d than when I dont.

Soren, I think you nailed it exactly right. I can see 3-d now or at least better 3-d. It sure helps riding.

Last driver's license renewal, I failed the eye test, which means the new license must show that glasses are required for driving.
No big deal - I wear them anyway. The new license was handed to me without the optical restriction.
I almost made it to the door when the inspector hollered out "wait a minute..."

If I wasn't such a "don't touch my eyeball" woose, I might try contacts someday.

Naah.

That was me a few years ago. No way was I gonna' stick something in my eye! During my annual exam...(now I'll admit it here, I'm the kind of guy that takes a couple of Xanax before my Appt. just so they can put in the dialating drops)...the doc stepped out for a moment, comes in behind me and pops a contact in my eye.

I signed up for Lasik that day. Had it done and tossed the glasses.

Contacts

The new disposables have so much water in them you don't even know you have them on.

And the multifocals treat the near vision as well as the distance.

I've been wearing them for thirty years and I'll keep wearing them until I need cataract surgery; about five years according to my optometrist.

D*mn how old are you guys? Just keep riding if you get to old, and die on us. We will just stop long enough to bury on the road side.
