Latest Pictures of Big Bore
      #12654 - 03/19/05 06:04 PM

Got my jugs back from Wiseco the other day. Washed them up and put them back on today, not really too much time to do it, but it helped having another set of hands. I couldn't get the pistons to slide on evenly until I finally called my brother over (Thanks Al!) to assist. Then they slipped right on. 4 hands are better than 2 in this job for sure.
I posted more recent picture here if you would like a look see. Scroll down to the Reassembly part. After the install of these parts I rotated the motor over several times to check for good ring seal and it rolls over nice and smooth. Yee ha!

I'm still waiting for my cylinder heads to get ported and polished and they should be done next week. Then I'll get them all back together and see if it will ever run again.
Stay tuned for the next chapter.

I hope you get it running in time for GA.
It should have enough power to haul that keg down strapped to the sissy bar.

No problem with getting done in time Pete. It should be fired up and ready for it's maiden voyage by next weekend. I talked to the machinist this morning and the port polish work will definetly be done by Tuesday at the latest and he's just 5 miles down the road. He even said he'd bring the head back so he can look at my bike. He does tons of speed tricking out for a lot of old Trumps (Triumph are his favorite bikes he tells me) and is very interested in the new ones. Mine is the first he's gotten to work with and he's like a little kid and all giddy about a new Triumph twin.

Hey Pat,
That's great news about your machinist. Get him to come on over to the new Triumph. I've convinced a die hard HD rider to give Triumph a go. He's been to two shops and wants a standard Bonneville.
I really figured he'd get a Speedy or BA. But, he said he knows now that handling is the crux of motorcycling after riding mine.
Tell Al thanks for me too, he has helped getting info to all the rest of us.

Looking good Pat. I can't wait to hear the story about this mod firsthand!

I definitely want to do a side by side pull with you to see how much faster you are!

You know you are now obligated to do a complete write-up?

But you also have to consider that I will be pulling a lot more weight than you. It's been a long winter and the beer's been mighty fine.

Can't wait to read the results and your satisfaction. Sorry I didn't make it up when the motor was still tore down.
I'm mulling over this for myself next winter. Any idea what the total cost is going to run?
We have the head guy in Frederick MD that did the street tracker heads for the competition bike. I should meet him in a few weeks through a HD buddy. Bet his prices are pretty steep!

Pete,
I have about $800 into it including $100 for port and poilsh work. Labor is free.

That is less than I would have guess. Free labor goes a long way! Just read the write-up, excellent job as usual. Must have been challenging to stop and take photo's while doing all those tedious tasks- Thanks!
