And they call California a communist state. I guess Oregon would be more authoritarian?

I will be surprised if that happens. NTW, Discount Tire, the custom wheel industry etc. will fight really hard with their checkbooks at the legislators desk.

They will bribe it into a long death in committee.

Follow the money. Find out who is getting greased and boycott that company that is supporting that person or persons.

The tire angle sounds like the ubiquitous "foot in the door" to regulate most performance based aftermarket parts . Once they get used to the sweet taste of regulation , it's hard to change their diet .

Personally I doubt any bill like this - if passed - would survive long. Ignoring the obvious safety concerns from this poorly thought out bill, all it would take is 30% of sales to disappear over the state borders to get the local tyre retailers screaming for it to be revoked. Even if they made it illegal to use out-of-state tyres, can you imagine the police trying to enforce it?

Yep! My thoughts exactly, Matt.

And so, let me get this straight here then...

The softer and "stickier" a motorcycle tire is, "the more it supposedly pollutes the environment", huh?!

(geez...and HERE I'll bet in the name of "Free Trade" even OREGON let's mexican semis operate within it's state, spewing TONS of unspent diesel fuel into the air, and yet they're "worried" about the "effects that motorcycle tires" supposedly have upon the environment up there???...go figure, huh???!!!)

(you HAD to know the following was comin' here, right John? ....)

Nah! I hear "Commie States" don't allow anybody to LANE SPLIT like we do here, John!

(screw this reply...I've thought of an even BETTER retort to this...see below)

Well John, in THAT case it appears that you've learned somethin' NEW today then, haven't ya?!

Yep! It looks like you didn't already know that we Californians(ESPECIALLY we SOUTHERN Californians) have been packin' up the suitcases of those REAL "commie tree-huggers" down here and sendin' 'em north of the border for YEARS now!!!

Yep! We just figured that IF those kind'a folks just can't seem to wrap their little heads around the whole idea of sunny days, California beach bunnies(BTW, wasn't that YOU who mentioned to me while we were sittin' in that Manhattan Beach restaurant last year that the women in Montana couldn't hold a candle to the ladies we saw there that night? HUH???!!!...but I digress ), and souped up cars and motorcycles(cue the Beach Boys here), AND if they love all that WET WEATHER so dang much, well then we'd just help 'em right along on their way UP to where those folks UP THERE appear to LIKE all that crappy and depressing weather so much of the time, AND where they can hug all their trees UP THERE to their heart's content!!!

(yep, just ask Soren...HE'LL tell ya!!!)

Wow, two separate replies. I'm flattered. Not really worth a response but I appreciate the effort.

I would like to believe the bill's chances of survival = a snowball in heII

That's a whole lotta tire product from some very heavy hitters (and lobbyists) that would be forbidden. If these dingbats think they're going to take on Goodyear, Michelin, Firestone, and 8 or 10 others without getting their arses walloped, I think they have a lot to learn.

Then there's the issue of out of state drivers using the forbidden tires within the state.

I just wish those tree huggin', recycling loving, commie socialists would have just kept going north. Anotehr 6 hours and they would be in Canada.

I never have liked Oregon, the weather or the politics.
