Folks: Can't seem to locate Pat's nifty calculator. Can someone repost the link? Also, a member had posted some nice valve adjustment photos, but I can't locate them either. I promise to save both to my Favorites this time!

You can get it here.
(Right-hand mouse click, then choose "save target as." I usually save these types of things on my desktop.)

ssjones,
It's linked from page 3 of his "Big-Bore Saga."

Hey Al,
Are you talking about beanache's thread? http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...h=true#Post8202
This thread is from more that 6 months ago and is beyond the current search limits (which I am trying to get resolved) but I found it because I remember Paul posting it...

al, Be sure you use the correct increments too. I just did matt's and when I got home to use the Dinkulator, I had forgotten that my micrometer is inches, not MM's. I was cornfused that the readings were so far off so I had to go back and verify then convert using the convertor. By the way. My dealer has a very large assortment of shims, even several old ones that are recyclable. But they could not figure out how to use them since the writing was worn off of them all. So I showed them how to read their micrometer (also in inches) and how to convert them using a calculator. Duh. They were amazed by my genius. I bet the old shims are ones they took out of old bikes when they did valve work, and still charged them for new ones without giving back their old shims. Made me pay the $7 each. I had to measure a bunch before I found the exact final one I needed. They also said they should use one of those dremel markers and grind a size into them, I splained to them this would destroy them if they scratched them at all. Duh #2. These guys are a Triumph service center? Scary huh? See why I do ALL my own work?

Good advice. I believe the motorcycle mechanic that hangs out at my house all the time (SOB ate the last @#$ piece of pumpkin pie last night..) has a metric micrometer, or he better grab one from their shop! I stopped at Capital Area Triumph (Harrisburg PA) last week and chatted with one of the owners. He seemed confident they would have any shim I needed. I'll crack into this as soon as we get our first bout of bad weather. Temps in the 50's and sun on Sunday, I don't want her torn down for those kind of days! Thanks guys for the info!

Btw, he wanted a copy of your Dinkulator to use at the shop. Apparently a big company like Yamaha can't supply their tech's with this kind of tool!
