Mike, what do you consider reasonable rev limit & advance to be on a 07 SM with no internal mods, long TORS, & Keihin CVK carbs?

interesting web site . You can see from their graphic why the stock rev limiter is where it is.

I've had two modules remapped by Pieman so far. Fast service and a very fair price.

Now if I only didn't have a foot of snow on the ground right now, I'd tell you all about it.

/Mike

RaceDweeb,
I am anxious to hear about the upgrade. I think that even another 500-1000 RPM would help. My bike seems to be really pulling about the time the rev limiter is kicking in. Keep us posted!

Ah, got it, thanks. That run is for a 790 T100 360 motor. And at that it looks like it's out of steam on or about 8k...

Sent mine out snail mail to have the rev limit increased to 8500 .
Don't need a quick turnaround given the fact that the snow won't be gone until April. Will keep everyone posted.

Greg,

Did you go for the "Rev Limiter+ & Ignition Advance Remap" or "Rev Limiter+"?

Rev Limiter only.
I've had some problems with my TPS sensor and disconnected it. My rev limiter was kicking in around 7100rpm but the bike still really pulls strong so 8500rpm it is.

When your TPS is disconnected the igniter defaults to the 100% WOT map which is the one that is modified. So the benefits are still there to be had.

For the rev 1 remap... what do you recommend for the most effective amount of increase? Also, what significance is there in advancing the ignition 3 degrees?

Has anyone installed and tested their remapped Igniter yet? I am really curious to hear how they are working.

I understand there is a price difference between a 3 degree advance & "custom" 2 degree advance...anyone know why?

For you guys that want to know if this works – here’s my experience. I sent out my igniter earlier this year and with regular shipping took about a week each way with super fast turnaround. No time worries as outside was below 40º at the time. Email communication was excellent beforehand as well as on the return shipping.
Got the advance change along with a slight bump up in the rev limiter, and really think this is the best performance mod I’ve made to the engine. I’d previously done the typical external mods many of us have done: AI & snorkel removed, K&N air filter, 2 of 4 baffles removed from stock mufflers & remaining 2 baffles have 1/2 inch holes drilled, carbs rejetted (Pat's jetting calculator was right on). The bike pulls stronger and if my ears don’t deceive me, the exhaust note is a bit different too – sharper, almost like higher compression. My testing was rather simple: looking for any change in acceleration getting up to an indicated 90 mph. The bike would go past this speed in the past (it’s pushing a rather large 19” Memphis Shades) but would best be described as sluggish up there. Now it easily reaches this speed, I mean easily. Overall acceleration is just snappier, livelier – any way you want to say it - it’s just better than before with NO other mods made. If I had to describe the change in only one word, it would be: responsive. And if you don’t know exactly what I mean by that, let’s just say: faster. Oh, for the record – this is on an ‘05 SM with 10K miles on it.

Thanks for the review Shadow. It's good to know your bike is running so well with your TTP remap.
