AMA, motorcyclists stop attempt to raid motorcycle training fund in Ohio
AMA members and other motorcyclists rights organizations in Ohio have successfully stopped a plan to raid the Motorcycle Safety and Education Fund.
The Ohio Office of Budget and Management recently proposed transferring $750,000 from the fund and using the money for other purposes. The AMA and other organizations asked their members in Ohio and other supporters of rider education to contact the six elected officials of the Ohio Controlling Board to stop the transfer.
The AMA alerted members and others about the issue through the AMA Rapid Response Center.
"Motorcyclists responded to our call with phone calls, e-mails, faxes and letters to the members of the Ohio Controlling Board," said AMA Legislative Affairs Specialist Imre Szauter. "Your voice was heard, the members of the Controlling Board came through, and these funds will be used for motorcycle education, as they should be."
The Motorcycle Safety and Education Fund is funded by a $6 assessment on every motorcycle registration in Ohio and is to be used solely for motorcycle safety and training program.

I'm originally from Ohio - born and raised there. It's just inconceivable to me that the state government, a Republican one, no less, would attempt a stunt like this.

So, that's where gov Davis went after we fired him. They are taking money from motorcycle owners every year to "fund" motorcycle education. It i supposed to go to rider training programs and to pay for safety film clips to be shown free by TV stations as part of their 'public service' requirement.
The rider training is done on bikes donated by local dealers, the instructors are mostly volunteers and the students pay a fee to cover operating expenses. So, other than paying for an administration committee that doesn't do anything, where do my annual 3 bucks go?

Just like those "miserable sons of a bitc***" they truly believe your money is their money.
God only knows what foolish bull s**t thay would have spent your money on.
Finally a group of Middle America that stood up and was heard, it probley shocked the s**t out of them as they expected you to rollover for the them.
Good show, everyone of you that called, sent a letter or an e-mail needs to be applauded for taking a stand.
