There's an old saying, "No generalization is true all the time, including this one." I was in a minor monsoon the other day on the T-Pike. The center of the lane was only wet,while the wheel tracks had standing water.

I agree. What I was describing was what I do under normal driving conditions. You do need to adapt your driving to the conditions presented to you.

Here in Florida you have to constantly be on the lookout for patches of sand as well. I've known a couple of bikers who were cornering and hit light sand causing their tires to lose traction and put them on their sides.
