Herad on teh radio this morning that in teh state of Washington, they just passed a law to enforce motorcycle endorsements. Previously they were just writing tickets to people that were caught riding without an endorsement. Now, they will impound your bike.
As much as I hate new laws, I almost like this one. It will keep the "I have never ridden before and now I got a bike today" people off the road until they take the MSF class or are good enough to pass the DMV tests.
One of the things they said in the report is that 80% of all the motorcycle accidents in Washington involved riders without an endorsement.

I am all for enforcement of the lic. endorsement as long as it doesn't turn into cops pulling bikes over just to check.

Heck they dont have enough time or man power to do that (state troopers in Washington and Oregon are underfunded and therefore short.. but that's another story for another day) so they'll only check if they do pull you over.

I don't see what their funding has to do with their height.

Good! Itll get some of the jack holes I have seen lately into a safety class. They wont like it but itll knock some of the ego from them when they dont pass cause all they know how to do is go fast and pull wheelies.

In West Australia you are issued with a restricted max 250cc license for two years (mind you with technology it doesn't matter). Then you are eligible for an "open" license

That's a bit like how it was here. As you say there's no point to a cc limit, so it's now a bhp limit. I think it's 33. If you're over 21 you can take the test on a bigger bike and you don't have to wait the 2 years. Course you can have a bigger bike limited to 33bhp.
It's the reason Triumph sells a limiter kit.
