The only bad thing about the Army health care system is the increasing privatization of it - ****** Tricare is the worst thing that ever happened to Army medical. A guy that I work with needed surgery for nerve damage in his arm (Iraq wounds), he went to his Primary Care Dr (good old GP), got referred to a neurologist..after about a month, Tricare approved his visit to the neuro, who looked at him about two seconds and referred him to a neurosurgeon...about a month later Tricare approved the referral and sent him back to the same neurologist (NOT surgeon) he'd seen the first time.
And what the regular healthcare system needs is the government the ****** out of it (as with most things!), and tort reform. If only one of the presidential candidates was a medical doctor and could understand what needs done...oh wait there IS one!

Tricare Prime member here (retired AF). Wife rushed to local non-military hospital twice via ambulance. A one week stay with many differenct doctors one of the trips.
Over $35K in bills. Tricare paid every cent. There wasn't even a co-payment.
No bad experiences here.

Tom

And, maybe the health care "industry" would be better served not trying become 20% of the gross domestic product...and focus more upon becoming a service to the American citizen.

I pushed this off topic, my bad. I want the bill and the loophole. Can not find them can somebody produce a link? Would also like case law from litigation or names of victims damaged by this.
I think what they are saying, and do not consider it a loophole, is they never signed up for an endorsement. If biking isn't covered they said you could pay more to have it covered. Well, if you did not buy the endorsement you are not covered. Pretty simple contract law if you ask me.
I am not saying thats the case at all. Just saying I have not read the loophole or about those that suffered for it. I think AMA wants biking covered without additional premiums paid for it.

NO! I will never willingly give government oversight on private health care. EVER!
That's a shame. I grew up in the Army, best family health care system I've ever experienced and if I'm not mistaken it was government controlled.
I spent 23 years as a Naval Flight Officer. As an aviator I was fairly high up on the priority list. Most of my doctors were first rate and the corpsmen knew their stuff, but between the silly regulations and the bureaucracy I wouldn't want it again. The junior enlisted and their families weren't treated nearly as well as me and I think the system sucked. It's fine for combat wounds and curing the the clap but beyond that I'd rather be out among the civilians.

Ah, Navy, the oldest service and most maligned and mistreated. I can only speak to the Army's side of the equation from the time my dad was junior officer until he retired as battalion commander the medical corps was superior. Far superior to the private trade in rural America these days.

You need to pass one bill! National Health. Do that and I will drop my $650.00 per month private health.
The Canadians have the US to go to when the wait is so long they'd die before they're treated. The Brits have a private system for when the bureaucrats will let them die before they get care. Where will Americans go when the government health bureaucracy decides it's just not cost effective to keep them around? Every health care system rations health care. We do it by price, the nationalized systems do it by availability. High ranking politicians and bureaucrats always get special treatment not available to the common peon of course.

You are absolutely right Larry. I pay $8,000.00 per year for my family plan. I will eliminate that to pay the tax increase for the trillion buck plan.

That seems a pretty good deal,I pay $5000 yearly just to cover my wife on the company BCBS plan. I'm very lucky, my company covers me but that won't last forever as the premiums keep skyrocketing.
