This is the Bonneville.com journal
This the first pony express exchange...it is on it's way!
The pictures above they were taken in Coldwater, MI. The handoff was from BigJack in western Indiana to Bikerbob in eastern Michigan. When he is ready to move the journal forward he will be posting.

I arrived in Morenci, Michigan, about an hour ahead of plans. Imagine my surprise when Bob pulled up less then 10 minutes later!
Was an excellent ride both ways and the Journal in now in Ohio.

This is an Honor and a Privilege to have had a part in the movement of the Journal. Thanks Bob for contacting me. And for the Little Jug thing also!! Great Stuff!!!

There are no members between NH and NC that wanted to sign it?
Is that WilltheThrill? If so, I reckon it'll be in NC soon. There are a bunch of us here, who else wants to move it around the state? If we don't get a route to go around, I'll meet ya somewhere Will.

I didn't really plan to hold onto it this long, but the journal has finally been passed. It is now with Charlie in western NC. I didn't have a camera with me, but Charlie got some photos of the handoff.

I know the cold months are here and long rides are getting far and few but I'd like to see the journal head down south to Georgia.Nothing is on any time plan it might have to wait till spring,if it takes a couple three years to make it around the country no sweat.

Mrt202,you need to PM Drgnslyr and make plans to meet up with him.I'll be at Chy's rally in May, hope to see it there. From there logic would get it down to the large Florida group then over to Texas And westward.

I did pm Drgnslyr. I know the message was received, but he has not responded. If anybody knows him, get in touch with him. I was hoping to get it and then bring it to the Ga. rally.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sorry it took so long to answer, work is really busy right now.I work at a marina and everybody wants their boat ready yesterday. As far as the journal is concerned I do still have it,however my days off are Wednesday and Thursday if I'm lucky. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an excerpt from the message he sent me. His schedule is making it really difficult to get together. My schedule would require a Saturday meeting. Maybe someone closer to him could meet him during the week, then get it to me shortly thereafter?

Although not the preferred way of passing it on how about mailing to a member who is interested in taking it on the next leg of it's jouney? Possibly making a note to the alternative way it was sent out as well.

I don't like the idea of mailing the journal any where, the point to it is for it to travle from one biker to another by bike as the pony exspress was carried.Mailing it defeats the porpose of the exersize.

I kind of think that may be the way to go for this one, if you got it and brought it to the Midwest Rally, that would be great! Then it could move out from there to whoknowswhere.

Guys ,the journal is on it's way back to me via first class mail.If I get it by Wensday I'll have it with me at the midwest rally. We can decide there how to proceed with an eye toward the west.Maybe toward Washington state then south into California, back across Texas into Florida and up to Georgia, over through Alabama to Arkansas, then back to me in Indiana. This in a perfect world.

Jack, Send it me. I'll ride it around the country myself, and pick up photos along the way. It didn't come my way in time for the "Helen Keller Festival" in Tuscumbia so maybe the W C Handy music festival in Florence this August would be a good drop off point.

Alright... We're tentatively scheduled to meet at El Dorado Cycle around 11am 8/8/09. Anyone who wants to come is more than welcome to. I'm not a run of the mill kinda guy so I'd prefer a good home town restaurant if you know any Thensley... we'll discuss when we get there. See ya there.

The journal is now in NW Arkansas. Someone speak up, only one I have heard from so far is in Houston, TX. Long ride to meet him but that is where it is headed unless someone closer wants it.

I know as the journal heads out west that the distance between riders is greater,so you guys put your heads together and plan to meet half way so no one is doing all the travleing. That is unless your on vacation and want to travel.

Since I am leaving for England in a couple of weeks I need to pass it along pretty soon. Or take it over and let some of our English, Scottish brothers and sisters sign it. But since I can't ride my bike to England and will only have a rental car wouldn't be the Pony Express way.

I am about finished tweaking my new/old 03 America. If it needs to be linked from LA,AL or FL...not sure what direction it is headed, I would like to be involved. I am in Hattiesburg, MS kinda a crossroads, I-59 and Hwy 49 and 98 all cross within a couple miles of my house. I can get it to/from BatonRouge, Barber's in the Ham ( that would be a cool exchange), Memphis, Pensacola, etc. Not sure where the "list" is to be involved but I would like to make a leg on this deal.

I thought it was coming back east? Keep it coming guys. I'd like to pass it along when it gets close to Delaware. In fact, there are several of looking for a good reason to get together and ride anyway. That would make it a group hand off and a good photo op. Then one or all of us would pass it along as it made it's way up the east coast.

The Ark Rally is Oct 9-11. It might be nice to see it stay in the Ark area so rally folks can sign it. Then it can move on with someone from there. It was at the MW rally and was nice to look through. Just a thought.

Hi--I'm planning to visit Jacksonville, FL in early November. Anybody willing to carry the journal to there from THensley's hands in NW Arkansas? I would carry it back up the east coast to MD and could hand-off to Chip in DE. How about it?

Mea culpa--it is ME that will be parked in Baltimore for a few months. The Journal is elsewhere--apologies for any confusion.
Would the current Keeper of the Journal please confirm its whereabouts? Many thanks!

Sorry, I haven't been paying attention. I got it from Troy at the AR rally in Oct. Donny should have a pic. It's probably not going anywhere for a couple of months since I wrecked my bike, unless I can work something out with roundy. Maybe we can meet halfway.

I've still got it. My plans so far are the GA Rally and Midwestern Rally. I think Saxtron or one of those Texicans told me they would meet me half way and could take it to TX. If any member from OKC would speak up I could get it headed West that way. There is also member going through Kansas City to the west coast the first of June. I could probably get it up there also.

BigJack.. I belive the Journal has never been to the GA rally ..drgnslyr did not hand it off and kept it a very long time..and then mailed back to you for the mid west rally.. so it never made the GA rally.......

Yes, he is giving it to Blackwind (Keith) from Houston. Check the Ga. rally pics to see a picture of Charlie receiving it. Many folks signed it at the rally. Disregard Yota's comments, as it has to do with bodily functions.

I have the Journal here in Houston. I have a hard time here finding anyone in town that monitors this site much, and have little luck with the BMOA. I will have it with me anytime I think I might have a chance to pass it along, and will capture pics of the same and post here. Spring is almost here!

Jack, I am working on that now that I'm back on two wheels. You can follow that in the Texas Rally thread...
I'm really embarrassed that I've had it this long. There are a few members here in Houston, or in the Houston area. If they can chime in, we can try to get more entries in the journal before it moves on.
Right now, I'm going to try to get it to Chad (Locopony), up in Cleveland, and maybe he can get it to the Hill Country in a few weeks.
Chime in if you are in the Houston area and want to see this Journal. It is an honor to hold it, and we need as mamny BA.com members as possible to make an entry in it. Bring your cameras. Pics are cool to have and share.
Send me a PM if you can meet me or help pass it along.

I got the journal yesterday 3-19-11 at 11:00 am, here in Humble Texas. I would like to get it to some one who can take it to Arizona and then get it out to the north west west. Hopefully it can make the complete trip back to its origins.

I think there are some folks from Texas headed to Prescott, but if not, I will be passing through the area (spending the night in Sugarland with some friends) early in the week before the SWTF and will take it if no one else does.

Glad to see the journal is on the move again. If I meet up with it in Prescott it will have been at 4 different rallys I've been at.From Prescott I hope it moves west to Cali.,then north to Washington and Oregon as the number of members seems large up that way.If things happen like this the journal will have been to all four corners of the USA.Then it could starte a seconed trip to maybe fill in where it hasn't been.Sweet!!

That would be waaaaay cool. Conceivably from AZ, it could make it's way to the PNW because of the guys heading down from there. And more than one of those guys is heading up to Nelson come July so ya never know... maybe it COULD jump the border for a spell!

Picked up the journal this morning from Chad (Locopony) with Stewart (Roundy77) presiding; and buying breakfast :-). I will carry it on to Prescott for SWTF and I think it is headed up to the North-Northwest with some of those fine folks. Always good to look through it and see those who have had it for a while and those who have signed it, and even those who are no longer with us.

It was cool to meet Thom and Roundy for breakfast, along with their families. Someone should have told me to comb my beard before taking pictures.

Z and I have brought the Journal from Prescott to Portland. I plan to have some folks around here sign it, and then meet up with Z and he is going to try and the some Northern Washingtonians to sign. It will then be going to Nelson. We will be planning the handoff after that.

The Journal has now exchanged hands a couple times since Brent post above. Brent handed it to Keith a few days ago at the Nelson RAT Raid. Im sure hell post a pic at some point.
A few days alter Keith handed it back off to me and the Journal is now in my possession. Ill be planning a get together and get the locals to read and sign then make plans to get it moving east in a few weeks. Ill post a pic of the handoff from Keith to me shortly.
OK...maybe not so shortly but here it is...

As the term "Pony Express" implies... it should be on the move collecting stories, not sitting around stagnant. I hope it travels again soon!

It also implies, in this case, that it should be on two wheels. That said I don't see it leaving the NW for a few months now. The passes have snow and the temps are consistently and quickly dropping. The next stop for the journal should be eastern Wa and then a handoff to Montana or Idaho.

Why can't it move down the coast ? I'm sure people in Oregon and Cali would like to see it.

Keep in the NW for a while and spend some time with it. Add to it. Share it. It's not a race, and not worth doing anything stupid over...and when a good opportunity avails itself, move it on.

This journal has exceeded my exspectations. It has now passed from an exercise in moveing around the country to a truly historic document with comments from members, both liveing and past, all over the country. As such it sould be treat as a valuble thing as it startes to make a second pass trough out our country.

I think it became more than just a composition book after the first handoff! I was honored to have been able to transport it from Az to the Northwest. It sat tightly wrapped and waterproof in my right saddlebag each day, every day until I handed it back over to Brent to keep in Oregon. The day I got it back in my hands I could hardly wait to get it home and read it then add to it. This was a great thing you did here Jack!

The journal is in my hands now. I'll have a read through and will try to get back to Z sometime in May. He can then pass it on to to someone, maybe up in Nelson or at the SWTF.

Steve and I are working on a handoff date this week. My intent was to take it east towards Montana but need to know who wants it and where we can meet up. Anyone in Kennewick/Spokane wanna meet me somewhere sometime? I know we have a member or two out that way just can't remember who they are.

I just checked, doesn't look like it. Maybe Ill get a hold of MikeG and see if he wants to meet up half way. Not sure who it would go to from there. I don't see many posts from anyone in that neck of the woods.
I could get it up to Gordy and have IceMech bring it to Nelson. Then hand it off to you John and you can deliver it to someone... ??

Got the journal from Steve today. The only thing I need to know now is which direction to take it... North to BC or to Eastern Wa. Worst case is that its going to hang out with me till July when I get it to Nelson at which point it'll probably head back with Friar or Freedom. Funny... this will be the second trip to Nelson for the Journal if that happens.

It's not going to leave Montana anytime soon, then. I might be able to get it to Calgary or SLC or Boise, but I currently have no rides planned after Nelson. Too bad Nelson isn't before the Midwest Rally--it would be a good excuse to attend that.

If the journal makes it back to Nelson, I can get it out to Ontario. I'll be riding out there in August and perhaps can pass it on to the likes of Greg. Would have to know pretty soon if we go ahead with that so I can arrange to meet up with one of our members from Ontario.

Sorry Keith... missed this quote. Great idea! Gordie and son in law can get it while at the RAID and then it can move on form there.

I need some help. I forgot to bring the Journal to Nelson with me and need to get this thing moving again. Ive had issues with getting on two wheels this season due to an unusually busy work schedule.
If anyone is traveling through the PNW on any weekend please let me know so we can meet up and maybe get the journal moving again.
I feel bad that its just sitting here.
