Over the last 3 days, I've done more riding than the rest of the season so far. Most of it 2up. Right now my legs are killing me.Dont know if its from just being in the same position for extended times or from holding the bike up at
stops (lot of stops on hills around here).So any of you Iron
butts out there have any sugjestions? Other than get in the time machine and take about 10 yrs off.

I move my legs around on long trips, no pain. I put my heels on the pegs like a foot rest. I put the the sole of my shoe on them but the heel part too to stretch my ankles and then back to the normal position. Moving between these keeps me from getting cramped from just 1 position.

If you are one up you can also use the back pegs like rear sets for a bit. Chy has a set of custom built tuck-away center pegs on his America too so he has another option when two up. Ian is right, even with just the front pegs you can do a lot of moving around to different positions.

I had significant leg pain on rides over 300 miles before I switched to floorboards. I also had a pain on the outside of my right foot and even went to the doctor-thought a bone was broken. All of that cleared up for me.
Floorboards have been the best money I could spend. They allow me to move my feet around-amazing how much difference 1/2 inch makes. Since then I've taken a couple of 1,500 plus road trips and had no problems with my legs. I got the Triumph ones but some other after market brands that are cheaper should work just as well.

What kinda pegs ya got? I got some switchblades. Just getting my heel supported took some pressure off my legs. Helped a lot.

Thom's right - the rear pegs can give you an entirely different position , feels better on lond rides , caution - you better have some heels to hang on to the pegs and don't let your foot fall off.
Do it in a non-traffic area , takes lag time to get back on the controls .

Yeah... I don't have the pillion seat on the 06, but the back pegs are still there, for the change of position. I have boards on both, and they are comfy as anything, but the rear pegs are good for a change on motorway/interstate journeys.

Floorboards did it for me. No more knee pain or cramps and plenty of room to move around.

On a recent 500 mile trip, I brought my legs back and put my feet on the Clutch/Transmission cover to take care of a cramp. This and using the rear pegs worked for me.

If you ever decide to hang your heels over the shifter and rear brake, be sure you have an after market heat shield on the exhaust header. It's a real mess to clean melted boot soles off.

Tuck away center pegs eh?I'm gonna have to look into those.
I usualy just post up on rear pegs and lean forward for a while, which helps to stretch the hips as well.

Footboards enable many more placement options. That alone would probably help.
