Group Riding etiquette
      #354907 - 10/12/08 04:39 PM

With all these posts regarding Group Riding I thought I would start a thread about proper Group Riding Etiquette. The following link has a good writeup on this subject.

That's a good read, Tom.

But I have one question here. Saying that it's "unsafe" to do so, it says that a rider in the back should never slow down and let the rest of the group go ahead so he can "goof around" behind them. I wonder why that would be "unsafe"?

The only reason I would think it might be is because if that rider crashes, nobody in the group would know it. Does that sound about right, folks?

I have to admit I sometimes do this when I get a little bored with the slower pace a group naturally takes, and especially when the group I may be riding with comes to the "twisty stuff".

(you see, I like to practice my "late apexing" in those kinds of conditions, and I sometimes feel I'm missing an opportunity to do that if I'm just cruising along with the group)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
