First I wrapped the tach wire around a spark plug wire... that didn't work, just made the readout jump all over the place. Then I wired it into one of the coils... that worked perfectly until I changed to Nology coils, then the readout became sporadic again.

So I think I worked out my problems...had the clock wire connected to the wrong power wire...I would like to short out the fuel gauge..I didn't connect the wire so I get a blinking low fuel (empty) on the gas gauge side

My review: The Good: Having a tach again is real nice. Like the clock and resetting the trip meter is real easy. I had a drag special before and the re-set wheel would not always zero out. The speedo is real accurate, compared it against my GPS it is right on..Got rid of the front speedo cable..like that...I don't use the other features, trip time and etc... The Bad: The indicators lights are hard to see in the day time... basically can't see the neutral light At night the blue back light makes the speed and tach hard to see...
Overall I am glad it got one.

That's too bad, I was just marveling over this on the other thread. Still looks like a really good way to clean up the handle bars and console.

Hey Dave... I never found the idiot light shortcomings to be of any particular consequence. The console lights are still there so it's all good. Still though, for installations where the Acewell lights are the only ones it would be a drag.

Welcome Jim to the brotherhood of the speedo.
I am used to mine now, all the people who told me to go buy a Harley as that's what I was trying to do with my bike all now agree it looks way better.
I bought the LED version (2856 Model) but you cant run tank console lights and the LED warning lights at the same time cause you risk blowing the speedo due to the amount of power the neutral pulls (or so i was told).
Had the LED lights and they were useless, so went back to tank lights.
Haven't had any problems with the tacho, but as the speedmaster has a tacho it was just a case of using the exisiting wire - can take photo if anyone wants
