Hi, I am new to the board. I just bought this 2002 Triumph Bonneville America at a Harley dealer for a decent price. Man it's hard to get these things when one's available.
This is my first bike since I was 19 (I'm 46 now).
I'm looking forward to learning from this board.

Welcome Hasso. Looks exactly like my 02 when I got it in 04, minus a windsheild. You're going to love this bike, and you (as did I) will learn everything you need from this site.

Thanks, everyone! I will check out the image site too, appreciate the tip in on the pic. Windshield will be here next week.....(slipstreamer SHD-O, which I found via this site - so, thanks again). I have been searching for info on the speedo problems I'm having - but I haven't found the info all in once place yet. What I can gather is, replace the cable, if that doesn't work, replace the unit. (reads insanely high about 65% of the time).
Thanks again. I'll be lurking, and, as time goes on, I'll happily contribute once I know something....

Hasso: welcome to the site. The people here are incredible in their help to the other members.
I bought my 02 America new, and after 7k miles the speedo went crazy. The odometer worked fine. I ended up buying a new speedo. Have 28k miles on the new one. Same cable.
So, if your odometer is still working, I don't think a new cable is going to help.
You have bought a great bike.
Enjoy!

Thanks, Ted. Odometer is working fine. And I bought it with 7700 miles on it.....interesting. I'll try the speedo.

Sorry, I actually meant Mechanicsburg. I called about that bike and took off to go buy it but called in the morning before leaving and it was already sold!! I'm glad it went to someone on here though and i'm very happy with my 02 America I picked up from another member here. Good luck with yours!!

Bell22 - yeah, they told me they had had just TONS of calls on that bike - I felt lucky to get it. It was the 3rd one I had tried to get.....
Thanks, QuantumSchema. I'm loving it so far! Have already put 400 miles on it (in a month).....and I'm not commuting on it.
I need to get a new speedo. That's annoying me. When I got it it worked - then it immediately started doing the crazy high readings and has never recovered.....I'm just resisting a 300 dollar bill for a new one.
