I recently got in on the last batch of SS pipes and have been running them for about 1 1/2 months. Now, I always thought they were WAY too loud with an ear piercing bark only a deaf person at 1000 yards could appreciate. The recent Nelson RAT Raid proved to be an effective place for SS pipe loudness comparisons and when run against all the others at the Raid, mine were BY FAR the loudest pipes there. BY FAR!
Meanwhile I have my TORs back on the bike. I'll take the SSs apart soon to try to find out what's going on but if any of you get your pipes from the new batch mounted, be sure to let me know if yours too are as loud as the Space Shuttle taking off!

The weird thing is that they idle quiet. When you rev it your eardrums get obliterated.

Could one you guys (John, Z?) mount your new pipes temporarily just to see if they are like mine? Maybe it's got something to do with the new batch. I emailed Dale and await his reply... I simply can't run them like this.

I plan on working on Bollox this weekend and as soon as it's running I'll put my new pipes on. I don't want to mess with Reboot until Bollox is running again.

They really are loud. But Keith, I think all you need here is a little discipline. They idle pretty quiet, you just need to resist rapping the throttle after hours or early morning and waking up your neighbors.

I have gutted Forans and they too are very loud but if I am careful I can ride quietly as they idle quietly. I have been pulled up by Police on many occasions for breast tests and never ever been harrased for noise. Yet on jap bikes with loud exhausts I have been singled out.
