I'm supposed to be leaving tomorrow morning for Nelson, BC...and...this morning on my way to work..started up headed down the hill and it started running rough, like it was starving for fuel. Then it died and when I would try to restart it, it would try and then make a loud buzzing type sound...
Battery?

battery sounds weak to me. typically anything that is going to fail on my bike is doing it the day before a trip

Battery is toast brother. Time for another one, it happens, and its never any fun. When is the best time to have a bad thing happen?

Brent, If you find that its the battery and can't get a new one right now I have Karens battery still on my bench. I pulled it a few days ago to install her Shorai. The old battery is still operating fine I just didn't want to take any chances.
Anyway... if you need a battery and are going to pass this way (as long as your bike can be started via a bump or jump) her battery is yours. Ill be home working all day today and tomorrow for the most part.

Had my bike from a service one time, with a similar thing happening, turned out to be a trapped fuel or breather pipe or something like that. They'd trapped it when putting the tank back on!

You are right Chad. Better here than going around Mt. St. Helen's tomorrow in the middle of nowhere.
I don't have a way to load test it, even it was at home. It is in front of the mini-mart near my house at the moment. I'm at work. I am going to try to pick up a new battery and go change it during lunch.
What a day...
Thanks everyone.

If the buzzing sound eminates from behind the side cover than its time for a new battery. You may be able to clutch start it for a little while.

I was able to get a new battery and as you all thought... VOILA! I'm rumbling again. I'm loaded and packed and ready to leave tomorrow morning. 8:00 AM...WAHOO!
