It's hard for me to imagine having a kid (or being one) who couldn't swim. It's very foreign to me.
I do remember going through Aviation Officers' Candidate School that there were a handful of guys who couldn't swim when they arrived (the water quals were pretty rigorous). They had to head back to the tank every evening until they became proficient.

I couldn't resist, that thread was a hoot. The winner was, hand tighten and spit on it so it would rust in place.

Yeah, I thought bigbill's offering was the best one too!

(...though I gotta admit I thought EVERYONE gave Monty Python a good run for their money there!)

My son is 7 and he has his own 22 riffle I take him shooting and he knows the RIGHT way to handle and use a gun. We dont even have toy guns in my house. My boys will never think guns are toys. and im sorry I would never leave a gun loaded in my house ether. Laws are allot different up here but every gun is unloaded and the chamber is open before I get in my truck.

Yep I remember going squirrel hunting at age 7 using a 22.
Like I said I don't have any now but wish I did. Only been shooting once in the last 10 years and that was about 2 months ago over at a friends house. Still able to hit bullseye at 75 yards but that was using his police issue AR-15 with some really nice iron sights.

I don't feel like I need one for protection, but I really feel my son needs to learn to shoot and all. I'd rather him know from me, rather than first being introduced to them by anyone else.

We cant even keep a baseball bat in the bedroom over the pond.
Anyone comes in the house in the middle of the night and leaves with a bloody nose can get you prosecuted for assault.
Heaven forbid if you use a weapon of any sort, the thief becomes the victim, how wrong is that?

I see where a guy got arrested for not smiling at an Olympic even this week. You guys have been neutered by the state.

I should have added, we're not far behind.

Now c'mon Mac! On the vast scale of REALLY asinine laws such as those over there, WE aren't even CLOSE to that.

And DESPITE all the stupid-ass SIMPLISTIC fear-based DOGMA offered up by "certain people" about the "motives" of OTHER "certain people" here in The States, we'll NEVER "catch up" to having as many stupid-ass and OVERLY restrictive laws on OUR books as do those poor blokes over there!

(...and WE have the murder rates to PROVE that, dude!!!)
