Hey ya'll, I have been testing the Bridgstone S11 Spitfires. The are a comparison tire to the Dunlop 404 and Metz 880 by Bridgstones estimation.
Well, I have almost 4,000 miles on them now and I can report this, they show almost no sign of wear, so they are going to be decent mileage tires.
As for handling. They are every bit as good if not slightly better as Metz 880.s I had a set of those on right after my stock Bridgstones were removed.
The Spitfires offer just as good a ride and I think maybe even a little better in aggressive cornering and I have tested these extensively in some rather aggressive riding in some of the best twisties in Georgia and Illinois and they performed flawlessly and I mean I was pushing it.
This past week I road in heavy rain and pushed them there as well and they are great in the rain. I even got a little bold and deliberately drove through puddles to feel how they did there and they stuck to the road channeling the water out admirably, EVEN going through a puddle with 3" of water at 30 mph! Maybe not so smart to do but I had to know how well they did.
I have been hearing back from others that have put them on and they have reported the same (except for the water test) This is a great tire and one should not be afraid of it just because it's Bridgstone.
The stock tire on the America is terrible, mainly because it is a hard rubber tire and performs terribly because of it. The Spitfire and other tires in that class; Metz 880 Dunlop 404 are dual compound tires designed for Sport Touring which are designed for mileage AND sport riding, pretty much where we all like to ride.
I have them on my site and they are a good value and a great performer.

I'm pretty sure those are the same tires our friend Rene-Louis has on his America. He was raving about them and he rides like a madman.

What a great review and from a Triumpd Twin Dude. I think I met you in Dalonega when I pulled over having lost the lead riders in that N. Georgia gathering. Nice to know there is an alternative to Metzler. Do you have an opinion on the Kendas?

How do you think they stack up to the Avon Venoms I've been using for the last 35,000 miles? Mine will be due for relacement this Fall.

Larry D, can't tell you regarding the end mileage. One thing is for sure, you saw how well they did in Illinois in the twisties, so performance wise..since you weren't riding up my exhaust, I think they MUST be better than Avon!
Truth be told, you were doing quite well.
Braveheart, I have heard good things about them but have not personally tested them so I reserve comment until I can ride test them myself. I'll have to find someone who wants to test ride them for me.

Not for a time yet to be defined. That system requires a huge buy in and times are lean for that. Working that direction though.
