Dave, I've been thinking of sectioning & rechroming the "bug bar" to retain the OEM mounts, however the more I think this through it's gonna be more than I want to spend. P mounts are looking better to me.
When you cut the OEM mounts off of the ends of the bar, & then capped the ends, how are the wires routed to the lights? Is there a photo available of that detail?
